The City of Sarnia and the International Bluewater Bridge both lie just 30 minutes to the west; the City of London is just 30 minutes east. The economy of Warwick Township accommodates a mix of commerce, industrial development and agriculture. Manufacturing activity in Warwick is concentrated in the community of Watford, where firms produce a variety of goods-everything from building products to consumer hardware and automotive parts-for both local and more distant markets. Watford is also the trade and service centre for the outlying rural areas of the municipality and for the neighbouring Township of Brooke-Alvinston to the south. Warwick Township is bisected by Highway 402- the major transportation artery that runs eastward from the Ontario-Michigan border and connects with Highway 401, known as "Ontario's Main Street". To the west, via the International Blue Water Bridge, Highway 402 connects directly with the Interstate 94/69/75 network in Michigan. The Bridge is the fastest-growing commercial crossing in Canada. Rail service in Sarnia-Lambton is provided by both CN Rail and CSX transportation. Deep port facilities accommodating domestic and international shipping are available at the Port of Sarnia, which has direct access to the St. Lawrence Seaway. Directly adjacent to Highway 402, Sarnia Chris Hadfield Airport offers cargo and daily passenger service. Detroit Metropolitan Airport, which offers service to major U.S. and international destinations, is just over an hour's drive away. To the east, London International Airport is just over a half-hour's drive from Warwick Township. Service is offered to both Canadian and U.S. destinations. |
