The County of Lambton Emergency Co-ordinator is Mark Wetering and he is working with the Township of Warwick's Emergency Co-ordinator, Jim Hart to produce an emergency plan to cover a variety of situations that could arise in the municipality.

FIRE DEPARTMENTS

Warwick Township has two volunteer fire departments:

The Warwick Station is located in the hamlet of Warwick Village at 7074 Egremont Road and has 19 volunteers. The Fire Chief is Peter Ferwerda.

The Watford Station is located in the Village of Watford at 520 Ontario Street and has 23 volunteers. The Fire Chief is Rick Sitlington.

Both stations are made up of dedicated volunteers. Their purpose is to respond to all 911 emergency calls in their designated fire areas of Warwick Township. When calling in an emergencyto "911" please be sure to use and refer to your assigned "911" address.

Both departments are fully equiped to handle all types of emergencies, from a small house fire to an emergency vehicle extrication call.

The Watford and Warwick Firemans Associations have several fund raising activities each year. Under "Featured Topics" is a list of winners for the annual cash calendar.

POLICE & POLICING COMMITTEE

The Township of Warwick is serviced by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)

The Warwick Township Community Policing Committee is made up of volunteers and a Lambton O.P.P. Officer assigned to the Township.

The mandate and purpose of the Community Policing is to create a partnership with the local public residents to solve localized problems or make specific improvements that enhance the overall quality of life in our community.

The Committee meets: on the second Wednesday of each month at 8:30 p.m. at their office - 536 Simcoe St., Watford

Executive Officers are: Chair Craig Johnston; Treasurer Betty Poland; and Secretary Gary Worsfold.

These committee meetings are open to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend and participate to help the community to become a better and safer place for the residents to enjoy.

ANIMAL CONTROL

The Animal Control Officer for Warwick Township is Vicki Kyle from the Glencoe Animal Shelter located at RR #1, Glencoe ON N0L 1M0 and the phone number is (519) 287-2974.

BUILDING INSPECTIONS

Building Inspections are conducted by the Lambton County Building Services Department, on behalf of the Township of Warwick.

By-law 2 of 1999 is a by-law to regulate the issuance of building permits. This by-law sets out the various permit fees. Permits are required for all normal construction of houses, garages, barns, and also enlargements or additions, renovations, sheds, manure pits, silos, grain bins, inground pools and above ground pools where applicable. No permit is required for roofing, shingling or eavestroughing. If in doubt, call the Township Office 849-2936.

Applications for a building permit or demolition permit may be obtained at the Township Office during regular office hours.

AMBULANCE SERVICE

Lambton Emergency Medical Services offers land ambulance services to the residents of Lambton County. One of the eight stations is located in Watford.

BY-LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER

The Township of Warwick has a part-time By-law Enforcement Officer that does mainly parking infractions. There are various parking restrictions throughout the Village of Watford and the hamlet of Warwick - as posted.

Residential On-Street Parking Permits may be obtained at the Township Office, during regular office hours. NOTE: if you are having overnight guests or other situations arise that require you to park on the street overnight, please contact the office and leave a message, so that if you get a parking ticket, we can confirm that you contacted us and we will void the ticket.
