Downtown Revitalization

Warwick Township Council recognizes the importance of maintaining attractive downtown areas because they represent the heart of the Township and are the business sectors that visitors pass by on their way through the municipality.

The downtown core of the Town of Watford has undergone a significant amount of change over the last number of years, including the demolition and reconstruction of one downtown business block. In addition, many businesses along the Nauvoo Road business sector have taken advantage of CIP Grants to assist financially in upgrading and updating their storefronts.

As a result, tourists and visitors alike are more apt to stop on their way through town and patron one or many of these businesses.

Community Improvement Plan

The Township of Warwick's Community Improvement Plan (CIP) encourages development and investment within the downtown areas of the Township through financial incentives.

Goals of the Community Improvement Plan include:

Restoration and rehabilitation of buildings;
Heritage preservation;
Encouraging investment in the Township of Warwick; and
Beautification of commercial corridors.

Grants and Incentives

The Community Improvement Plan (CIP) provides many types of grants and incentives:

Façade Improvement Grant;
Brownfield Environmental Study Grant;
Structural Improvement Grant;
Tax Increment-Equivalent Grant;
Application and Permit Fee Grant;
Building Accessibility Grant; and
Mural Grant.
