With this support, we will provide placemaking improvements aimed at beautifying the public realm of downtown Watford utilizing the unique qualities of the Bluebird Parkette and the public square.

My Main Street is delivered by the Canadian Urban Institute (CUI) to help support the revitalization of neighborhoods across southern Ontario and supported by a $15million investment from the Government of Canada, through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario).

The My Main Street Community Activator initiative provides support for community projects in southern Ontario, including community enhancements, and streetscape improvements designed to draw visitors, encourage business development and growth, and increase local vibrancy. This stream provides funding support to revitalize and reimagine public spaces, with a focus on main streets and plazas, as vibrant and inclusive places that work for everyone.

Project criteria supported through this funding identifies Community and Streetscape Improvements as above grade enhancements to streetscape, landscaping, and amenities that supports the transformation of an area by enhancing the physical and visual assets. Projects will facilitate a focused, deliberate path to strengthening a downtown district through intentional and creative placemaking.

Key project items and improvements to be delivered through the Downtown Watford Placemaking Vibrancy Project and will include but not limited to:

  • Park Furniture Installation – bench and bike rack
  • Games Table – Installed in Bluebird Parkette
