The Full-Time position requires regular shift availability after business hours to accommodate operational needs at the Arena during the ice season (August to April seasonally) as well as parks and amenities April to September and halls all year round.

The Part-Time position requires regular shift availability after business hours to accommodate operational needs at the Arena during the ice season (August to April seasonally). Schedules will be set in consultation with the parks and recreation team and based on departmental needs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Secondary school graduation, preferably in a relevant technical program.
  • A valid Ontario Driver's License and other appropriate certifications, licenses, etc., required to fulfill the requirements of the position.
  • Familiarity with computer systems as they apply to municipal governments, facility bookings, inventory control and related functions.
  • Interpersonal skills in working with the public, overseeing contractors, working with staff team and summer students and providing customer service to the recreation function of the Township.
  • At least five years mechanical maintenance experience, preferably with exposure to pumps, compressors, heating and air conditioning and similar equipment.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

DUTIES:

Maintains and operates all equipment and facilities at the Watford Community Arena and Hall. Assists with set up and supervision of operations at arena and hall; collects fees from patrons; deals with crowd control situations; and promotes use of the facilities. Works under the direction of the Parks and Recreation Manager on duties qualified to do, and as the work needs arise, subject to availability of other staffing to perform recreation duties.
